Death Doula

Providing compassionate, comfort, care, and planning though end of life.

What is a Death Doula?

A death doula is a non-medical professional who companions a person as they transition from life to death through pre- and post-planning, vigil sitting, respite care, grief support, and legacy projects.

About Alisha Burch

Alisha completed her end-of-life doula training with Inelda (International End of Life Doula Association) and additional coursework by Deathwives. She holds a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and is ordained by the Universal Life Church. Alisha honors and supports individuals of all faiths and those with non-religious beliefs. Her experience spans with toddlers, teens, adults, and seniors across various levels of care.

Passionate about education surrounding death and dying, Alisha strives to dispel fear and break down taboos around the end-of-life journey.  With training in grief support, she walks alongside the dying with compassion, peace, and deep respect for their wishes and values.

Services

Emotional and Spiritual Support

A safe nurturing space for reflection, conversation, and comfort for yourself or loved one through the dying process. I offer deep listening, guidance, and presence to provide emotional and spiritual support. All beliefs and backgrounds are honored, with support focused on peace, meaning, and connection.

Pre Planning

Thoughtful preparation through the end of life. We can explore your wishes, values, and priorities to ensure your care and final days reflect what matters most to you and your loved one. This can include, but is not limited to, advanced directives, document gathering, planning end of life, memorial or funeral preferences, and more.

Vigil Sitting and Respite

Compassionate presence and comfort in the final months, weeks, and hours of life. Respite gives primary care givers a break while knowing you or your loved one is not alone. I provide a calm atmosphere through quiet companionship so you feel at peace and supported.

Legacy and Remembrance Projects

Creating meaningful ways to be remembered and leave lasting love behind. Together we can design a personal legacy project that reflects you, your life, values, and relationships. They can be gifts of remembrance to those you love, or a way to remember a loved who has passed.

Post Planning

Gentle guidance and care after death. This may include help with logistics, service planning, obituary writing, service leading and directing.

Pricing

Rates vary based on services and level of support you choose. Individual services start at $50, and package pricing is available upon request. Sliding scale options are offered to insure accessibility.
